Political Globalization - Jaehyeon Seo
1. Summary
Like so many movements in the world, political globalization will give new freedom to someone but lose autonomy to someone else.
This article deals with the multifaceted nature of globalization.
To talk about political globalization, one must know the three dynamics of political globalization.
It is global geopolitics, global normative culture, civil society.
global geopolitics
The most widespread form of politics in the world is democracy. Now, there are certain countries in the world that are powerful. However, many democratic nations of the world have created a variety of political cultures, and no matter how powerful they may be challenged by the power of various nations.
global normative culture
The main expression of global normative culture is human rights. Human rights have been at the heart of global citizenship in this world where humans live, which is important because not all human beings are equal. In recent years, environmental concerns have become a hot potato worldwide. All of these can be global normative cultures. In the past, the state was the main agent of the norm, but today it has surpassed it. There is a global normative culture beyond the country. It also provides a standard of conduct for these global normative culture countries or leaders.
civil society
The concept of civil society refers to the domain of informal politics. If we refer to the world, we are referring to a new space beyond a rather narrow country. Global civil society is an international non-governmental organization, centered around many social movements.
2. What was interesting? / What did you learn?
This article first introduced me to the concept of global normative culture. Living in a global civil society, I thought global normative culture was important. This is because global normative culture seems to be composed of the values of universal humanity, and I think that the universal values of human beings worldwide are very important. Our society, and moreover, our civil society, thinks that there are many tasks, even if it looks like one society. It is because it is fragmented into numerous discriminations, hates and exclusions.
3. Discussion point
What are our challenges in living in global civil society?
Not so long ago, African swine fever spread, and recently, our country's climate is often described by people as 'crazy'.
But we do separate garbage collection and use less plastic, which has a small impact on our environment. In fact, our carnivorous culture, which raises livestock, is the most environmental problem we face.
Then, what is our task?
